Obama and our Congress passed NDAA. Our Constitution is basically meaningless now.

NDAA – DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS? IF NOT, LISTEN UP.

It is an act signed on New Years Eve 2011 by the President and Congress, those very individuals who swore to defend our Constitution against all enemies foreign and domesticthat completely undermines the United States ConstitutionIt is now law that American citizens can be arrested and “detained indefinitely” with no right to a trial on grounds of being thought a “terrorist.” You can be considered a terrorist if you have guns or if you have more than a week’s worth of food. These very words I write could land me in jail forever without due process of law, because I am speaking out against the current tyranny and I could be considered a terrorist. So could you. This was never supposed to happen in America. One little line in a lengthy writ of legislation called the National Defense Authorization Act, directly overrides the majority of the liberties that we have always been guaranteed in the USA – the freedom of speech, the right to a trial before your peers, the right to bear arms, freedom of peaceful assembly, the right of privacy…

And they wanted to pass SOPA – which would have given the government control of the internet. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Patrick Henry would be horrified. Our government is us. I have to believe that. But to hand over our lives – our jobs, our education, our medicine, our rights to any governing entity is beyond stupid. It’s unimaginable. The outrage against SOPA was so massive that Congress had to change its mind. Please contact your congress people and tell them to repeal NDAA! To contact your representative, click here. For your senators, click here.

Should I run for Lloyd Doggett’s seat in Congress?

Lloyd Doggett is my state representative in Congress. He belongs to the Democratic party. Not that that matters one iota. Both parties are chock-full of pandering sellouts. And then there are a few fine, freedom-loving people representing us as well, however I do believe them to be a tiny minority. Anyway, it crosses my mind everyday to run for my representative’s office. My husband rolls his eyes. He knows they’d either eat me for lunch, tear me to shreds, or turn me crooked ;) Also, how could I homeschool my children for the next 16 years if I have a jobby job? I think I have to remain joyfully, self-electedly self-employed.  Nevertheless, I am so mad at my representative for voting for NDAA that I feel like taking the matter into my own hands. This is another blog post, so I’ll regain my original train of thought.

Blissfully ignorant, until you’re “detained”

I can’t believe how many Americans don’t know that we are not really free anymore. Every time I ask someone if they know what NDAA is, they give me a blank look. Apparently, Dancing with the Stars is more important to people than their freedom. Here is a list of the 86 senators who voted to chuck the oldest constitution in the world: click here. Here are the representatives who voted for it: click here. Both of my senators and my representative voted for this. I am beyond angry. I want them out. There is even a facebook page out there dedicated to recalling every single one of these traitors. Oh, and then our beloved President signed it into law. He must be recalled as well. And for those of you who voted for McCain and are smugly saying “I told you so,” Senator McCain was one of the two congress people who secretly drafted the bill. If you don’t see that both sides of this political circus are in bed together, you need to. Ron Paul is the only candidate for president who doesn’t believe in jumping in this dirty bed. Look into him – mainly because those who own the media don’t want you to. If Ron Paul wins the election, big government and everyone who benefits from it are done. And they know it, so they simply don’t give him any air time. My belief is that since the electronic voting machines are hackable, even if Ron Paul wins the Republican nomination, we’ll never know it. Please pay attention folks. I am not an alarmist, but I truly believe we are being fed nothing but lies. Listen to Ron Paul. Not the media. Join the Libertarian party. It is the only party concerned with limited government and freedom. And no one is paying me to say this. I will never be paid to stand for something for which I don’t stand.

Without Freedom, you wouldn’t even recognize yourself

If you toss a frog into boiling water, it jumps out right? (Please don’t verify this. I didn’t.) But they say that if you put one in room temperature water and slowly bring it to a boil, it will just stay there until it dies. This unwitting second frog is a good metaphor for Americans right now. For years now, conspiracy theorists have been telling us that there is a plan to slowly, almost unnoticeably, strip away our freedoms, to the point of declaring martial law with the intent to enslave the population, but by the time we’ve been convinced to do all of the things that are prerequisite, it will be too late for any of us to do anything about it. Yeah, it’s easy to shrug that one off and call ‘em crazy. I mean, I can’t figure out who would want to do this or how they’d actually get away with it…

except that it’s happening…

I don’t know if I believe there is an elite secret club called the Illuminati that has been covertly controlling politics and the world for centuries. What I do know is what America stands for, and what an amazing quality of life capitalism has brought to millions of people. In America, women are free, races are equal, homosexuals and religious people are allowed to be who they are. It’s truly remarkable – this experiment called Democracy and free market. Our founding fathers knew that it would be difficult to maintain the magnitude of their vision of freedom. It’s simply too easy for government to squander our freedom by telling us they’ll take care of us. Gag. I’ll take care of myself, thanks.

We ought to heed a warning made by Patrick Henry in 1775, not long before the opening shots of the War for Independence were fired at Lexington and Concord. Henry clearly understood how freedom was being threatened by oppressive government rule. He warned against indifference, complacency, and apathy…Henry and other patriots believed that freedom meant individuals had the ability and responsibility to plan their own lives without unnecessary government intervention. That freedom was being threatened, and Henry was telling the colonists to wake up and confront the danger before them. His admonition applies to us today. - Robert G. Bearse

There’s a story that after the first Constitutional Convention, a woman approached Benjamin Franklin and asked what type of government they were creating. He replied, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

But they had to give it a go. And it started with…

not having a king – it’s called Limited Government

The people, however, were so accustomed to having a king that they even asked George Washington if he would consider the title of king. He declined. The United States of America is the first of its kind, an experiment with something called freedom. If we don’t wake up and reclaim this country by the people for the people, it will be gone. It’s no wonder Ron Paul’s campaign calls itself a Revolution. It’s as important as the first one ever was.

Unless you truly believe that our government is trying to herd us up, put a number on us, strip away our freedoms, and have us work as slaves to the nation, I don’t really see where this argument is going. I see alot of references to the Founding Fathers and the Constitution when reading posts like this. For all the good these great men did for this country, the Founding Fathers were slave owners, there was no such thing as nukes during their time, and the thought of targeted mass killings on US soil by anything other than a declared war was unimaginable.

The top job of our government is to defend itself from enemies foreign and domestic. Without accomplishing this goal, all the other issues of the day…abortion rights, health care, etc. don’t mean much.

I’m not defending Obama. However, it needs to be understood that our country has a big bullseye on it. Many countries resent us – not because of Obama or Bush, but because we’ve accomplished something no other country in the world has. We created our own country, made our own rules, and took over control of the global economy. We’ve also roughed international feathers by sticking our nose where it didn’t belong a few too many times in my opinion. Regardless of why they hate us, our enemies no longer fly their flag and march at us in single file. They sneak around among us, plant bombs in places that do the most damage, and fly planes into buildings. We will never be liked by some of these haters, no matter who we elect.

Bolstering our economy to afford ourselves defense and long term prosperity is the answer. Passing measures to increase domestic security makes sense given the times we live in. Few laws are perfect. Most have words that raise hairs on someone’s neck. The intent of this is to protect American lives, not strip away freedom or take away our guns.
